London docklands data center pipes into carrier network

Global Switch announced that SprintLink UK Ltd a provider of secure and wireline and wireless communication will deploy a point of presence (POP) in Global Switch’s London data centre campus.

The expansion is expected to help Sprint meet the added connectivity demands in Europe driven by the continued uptake of cloud services by enterprise clients, and enable Global Switch’s customers to enjoy the widest connectivity and peering options from the data centre, the company said.

Global Switch’s London data centre is located ‘the heart of the connectivity-rich London Docklands,’ giving Sprint direct access to an abundance of major international and national customers and networks.

Sprint will offer additional value-added services on its network, including SIP Trunking and IP Telephony.

Sprint’s presence in Global Switch London will enhance diversity to the Sprint network in Europe and provide low-latency connectivity to the United States, which is crucial for its customers’ mission-critical applications.

Global Switch services financial institutions, enterprises, government organisations, global system integrators, telecommunications companies and managed service providers telecoms location, internet and IT infrastructure.

Global Switch has a ‘carrier neutral stance’ and allows customers to connect to providers of choice including a host of Tier 1 carriers that utilise Global Switch London as a major network node of their own. The presence of carriers such as Sprint will ensure Global Switch customers in the data centre have direct access to a wide choice of telecoms and content distribution networks, key internet exchange points and cloud hubs.
