The billionaire owners of London’s Millbank Tower have added a £110m chunk of Knightsbridge to their property empire. David and Simon Reuben, whose interests stretch from buildings to data centres and racecourses, are thought to have bought 27 Knightsbridge.

Many of the tenants are due to leave, giving the brothers the opportunity to refurbish the office block and let it at higher rents. They are said to have bought the Isle of Man company through which the building was held. The property agency Michael Elliott handled the sale.

The Reubens, who are ranked third in this year’s Sunday Times Rich List with a fortune of £14bn, last week bought 2.8m sq ft of land in Ibiza. Added to their existing holdings, it means that they own about four miles of uninterrupted beachfront.

The Reubens, who were born in Mumbai and educated at state school in Britain, made a fortune trading aluminium in Russia in the 1990s after the break-up of the Soviet Union. They ploughed the proceeds into London property.
