11 January 2005 – London

The British property investors, David and Simon Reuben, were involved in one of the UK’s top three private equity deals in 2004, according to the respected research organisation Zephyr.

The 2004 league table of private equity transactions shows that the Reuben Brothers’ purchase of the publicly quoted Chelsfield ranked as the third largest deal of its kind in the UK. The £896 million acquisition of the company founded by Elliott Bernerd ranked behind Permira/CVC’s purchase of the AA, and Charterhouse’s acquisition of Saga Group. Chelsfield has subsequently being sold again to a consortium including the Reuben Brothers and two Australian property companies, Westfield and Multiplex.
